We seek to uphold high standards of honest and ethical behaviour. Operating our company openly, fairly and with integrity best serves our many stakeholders as well as our business. It’s also the right thing to do.
Our Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and our Human Rights Policy are designed to ensure that responsible behaviour is a living part of our culture.
Code of Business Conduct and Ethics
The behaviour of all directors, officers and employees is guided by the principles in our Code of Business Conduct and Ethics. All directors, officers and employees must sign a declaration confirming that they understand and will observe the Code. The Board obtains annually from each director and executive officer formal confirmation of compliance with the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
Human Rights
Hudbay’s Human Rights Policy clearly articulates our commitments to human rights. Key aspects include commitments to:
- Practicing ethical business practices
- Respecting rights of labour practices and labour relations
- Promoting and welcoming community participation on issues of mutual interest including economic opportunities and human rights
- Implementing security measures that respect human rights
In keeping with our policy, we have committed to implementing the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights, which were developed by a partnership of NGOs, national governments and extractive industry and energy companies. The aim of the Voluntary Principles is to guide companies in maintaining the safety and security of their operations within an operating framework that ensures respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. We have also adopted the United Nations Code of Conduct for Law Enforcement Officials.
